Anna Phoebe und Aisling Brouwer – besser bekannt als das Ambient-Duo AVA – werden am 12. Juli ihr Debütalbum „Waves“ auf One Little Indian Records veröffentlichen – eine sehr persönliche Platte für diejenigen, die Trost in einer Welt voller Unruhen suchen. Als britische Bürger, die auf dem europäischen Festland geboren und aufgewachsen sind, schrieben die Musikerinnen „Waves“ vor dem Hintergrund einer bevorstehenden Brexit-Abstimmung, deren Ergebnis ein verheerender Schlag für das Duo persönlich war und nun durch ihre emotional getriebene postklassische Musik verflucht wird.
Nach den Singles „Waves“ und „In Motion“ veröffentlichen Phoebe und Brouwer jetzt den Song „Resistance“, welcher davon handelt, Verzweiflung in Entschlossenheit, Ausdauer und Widerstandsfähigkeit zu verwandeln. Aisling Brouwer dazu: „The string swells almost sound like cries for help. It’s about letting all these feelings boil up inside of you and using this to build your strength. It’s not so much about asking questions as it is about insisting on answers.“
Anna Phoebe fügt an: „Yes this piece for me is about the outside turmoil – when everything is dragging you down and it’s muggy and you’re trying to pull yourself up out of it. When I hear Ash’s piano line come around 2.40, for me that’s such a stroke of positivity shining through and is a reminder to keep going and to fight through.“
